HL Deb 12 May 1983 vol 442 cc704-5WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What consideration they have now given to the recommendation in the report Asbestos-related diseases without Asbestosis (Cmnd. 8750) that industrial disablement benefit should be paid to asbestos workers who do not have detectable asbestosis but who do have diffuse pleural thickening of more than a specified degree or lung cancer accompanied by certain indications of substantial exposure and whether they will make a statement.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health and Social Security (Lord Trefgarne)

I have nothing to add to my reply to the noble Lord on 25th April 1983. [Official Report, Vol. 441 col. 796.]
