HC Deb 11 May 1983 vol 42 c318W
19. Mr. Shersby

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress he has made in his discussions with the United States Government about the abolition of visas for British citizens visiting the United States of America.

Mr. Onslow

Draft legislation which would have the effect of removing the visa requirement for tourists from Britain and certain other countries was introduced in Congress in February.

We are in touch with the United States authorities and shall continue to do what we can to press for progress.
