§ Mr. RifkindEmployment in the textile industry decreased by 9.8 per cent. from December 1977 to December 1982. Employment in the clothing industry increased by 12 per cent. over the same period. In December 1982 the numbers of persons engaged in the textile and clothing industries were 112,000 and 257,000 respectively.
