§ Sir Anthony Meyerasked the Secretary of State For Industry what discussions have taken place about the future of the European regional development fund in the context of the enlargement of the Community; and if he will estimate the United Kingdom's share of the quota section after the accession of Spain and Portugal.
§ Mr. MacGregorIt has been agreed in the accession negotiations that Spain and Portugal should participate in 313W the European regional development fund on accession, but since the Community has still to consider the question of their quotas, it is not possible to make any estimate of eventual quota arrangements at this stage. There are also current proposals to amend the European regional development fund quota outside the enlargement context.
