§ Mr. William Rossasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether any acid rain has been known to fall in Northern Ireland; and, if so, when, where, and in what quantities.
§ Mr. David MitchellThe acidity of rainfall has not so far been monitored in Northern Ireland, but it is proposed to set up a monitoring unit shortly. There is no evidence at present to suggest that levels of air pollution, including acid rain, are having serious or widespread effects on the environment.
