§ Mr. WaldegraveRecurrent and equipment grant to universities in Scotland is estimated to total about £180 million in the academic year 1982–83. Fees paid to universities on behalf of home students will total about £20 million. Payments for capital expenditure in the financial year 1982–83 were £5.4 million.
These figures do not include the cost to public funds of student maintenance.
