§ Mr. McMahonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to repeal the offence of begging under section 3 of the Vagrancy Act 1824.
§ Mr. MayhewNo. The Select Committee on Home Affairs recommended in its third report that the begging offence in section 3 of the 1824 Act should be retained, at least for the time being. The Government, in their reply to the report, said that they accepted this recommendation.
