HC Deb 09 May 1983 vol 42 c200W
Mr. Colvin

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many acres of undeveloped derelict and developable land exist within the city boundaries of (a) Bristol and (b) Southampton

Mr. Giles Shaw

The register of unused and underused public land for Bristol and Southampton contain details of 79 sites covering 1,067 acres and 28 sites covering 85 acres respectively. Some, but not all, of these sites are derelict land capable of development.

The last national survey in 1974 showed 17 acres of derelict land in Bristol and none in Southampton. The survey did not record detailed information about individual sites. Up to date information will be available when the analysis of the 1982 derelict land survey is completed and ready for publication later this year.
