§ Mr. GummerAs at 4 May, 4,308 payments amounting to a total of £25,188,163 have been made since the Act came into force on 4 July 1979. Fifty-one applications are currently under consideration. It is not possible to estimate the value of these because it is not known how many will be approved, and certain payment information is not available.
