HC Deb 05 May 1983 vol 42 c149W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the total amount of rent paid by hospitals in England.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The annual accounts for 1981–82 submitted by health authorities in England—(excluding the Prescription Pricing Authority and the Dental Estimates Board) — show that the total expenditure on rent in respect of all their premises was £18.85 million.

Figures relating specifically to hospitals are not available centrally.
