§ Mr. Marlandasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will state the total estimated cost of the repairs currently being carried out on the Severn bridge.
§ Mrs. ChalkerApart from normal maintenance, there are no repairs at present being carried out on the Severn bridge. Patching of the deck surface and replacement of some defective hangers will take place in May at a cost of about £50,000. I cannot yet estimate the precise cost of the future repairs and strengthening as I am awaiting the consultants' report.
