Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) whether he will give for the longest and most convenient stated period of time, nationally and for the Metropolitan police area, the numbers of persons arrested and charged with rape where the victims were below the age of 21 years and above the age of 60 years; how many were aged 70 years and above; and if in these cases he will give a detailed list, without disclosing the names of the victims;

(2) whether he will give for the longest and most convenient stated period of time the numbers of reported cases of rape nationally and in the Metropolitan police area, the number of cases where arrests took place and prosecutions followed and persons found guilty were sentenced, and, in these cases what were the sentences imposed; and in how many of these cases the convicted persons had more than one conviction for this offence.
