§ Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will provide information to the general public on the prices of those items of medication that can be bought over the counter at a lower price than the current charge per item obtained by National Health Service prescription.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeThis would be completely impracticable.
More than 8,500 licensed medicinal products can be sold over the counter in pharmacies and some 4,500 of these can also be sold in other retail outlets. The price charged for any item is a matter for the vendor's commercial judgment.
