§ Mr. George Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many representations Her Majesty's Government have made to other countries about summary and arbitrary executions; to which countries; and how many times representations have been made to each of them.
§ Mr. RifkindAs I made clear in the debate on 24 March—[Vol. 39, c. 1175–83]—we have made several representations to Governments about human rights violations, often with other partners in the Ten, but we consider these most likely to have some effect if they generally remain confidential. We have also given strong support to United Nations action and appeals to Governments on this question.
