HC Deb 29 March 1983 vol 40 c94W
Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what number and what proportion of houses have been built with timber frames in the 12 months to the latest convenient date.

Sir George Young

The Department does not collect this information.

National Housebuilding Council figures for 1982 show that about 23 per cent. of the 138,000 applications for registration in Great Britain, which correspond accurately with its figures for annual private sector starts, were for timber framed housing.

No corresponding information is available for the public sector.
