§ Mrs. ChalkerThe information is not available for a comprehensive assessment, and in particular we do not know what proportion of additional journeys by bicyle would otherwise have been made by car. But energy conservation was recognised in our cycling policy statement of January 1982 as one of the reasons why the Government welcome the revived interest in cycling.
