§ Mr. Giles ShawI recognise that acid rain is a matter of growing public concern about which a number of representations have been made. The problem is72W essentially international in character which is why the United Kingdom was glad to sign the United Nations Economic Commission of Europe convention on long-range transboundary air pollution last year. The United Kingdom will continue to play a full and constructive part in seeking a solution to this problem within the EC and United Nations.
