§ Mrs. FennerAs part of the self-sufficiency calculations, it has been estimated that imports of food for human consumption in 1982 amounted to about £6.3 billion, with corresponding exports being about £2.3 billion. About £3.5 billion of the total import bill was in respect of foods which can be produced commercially in the United Kingdom.
