§ Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for Transport what funding is available to local authorities or passenger transport authorities wishing to finance, or part-finance, the development of railway schemes within their local authority area.
§ Mr EyreThe sources of funding are:
- (a)the authorities' own resources, which are supplemented by
- (b)rate support grant and
- (c)in England and Wales, transport supplementary grant
In addition, authorities may apply for grants from the European regional development fund to finance specific schemes.
