§ Lord Brockwayasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they will investigate the circumstances under which legal immigrants to Hong Kong are transferred from transit camps, and the allegations that they are left unemployed, without schools for their children, and suffer from a shortage of medical services.
1224WA
§ Lord BelsteadThe transit camps provide temporary shelter for those made homeless by fires or natural disasters. Arrangements for their transfer to other accommodation are a matter for the Hong Kong Government. I am satisfied that these arrangements are fair. Although they may entail people being moved further from their place of work, medical and employment services and schooling are available locally.
