Mr. Ron Brown(Leith) asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the Scottish Development Agency will complete its current programme of works for Leith; and if he will consider providing extra resources to extend the period and to cover further projects in this area of Scotland.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherThe Leith project agreement which was signed on 5 May 1981 commits the Scottish Development Agency, Lothian regional council and the city of Edinburgh district council to a programme of action over a period of not less than three years and not more than five years. I understand that the agency is already discussing with the local authorities concerned whether the project should be extended beyond May 1984.
