§ Mr. Parryasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has assessed the contribution of the Liverpool return and learn scheme to the regeneration of Merseyside.
§ Mr. KingI understand that this and similar preceding schemes have been sponsored by Liverpool city council and funded by the Manpower Services Commission for the last six years. Both organisations consider that the scheme provides useful educational opportunities for the unemployed. I hope that agreement can be reached on adaptation of the present scheme to the requirements of the Manpower Services Commission's community programme.
