§ Sir Keith JosephApart from requests for copies of reports, I have received about a dozen representations concerning the publication of HMI reports since the new policy came into effect at the beginning of this year. Most sought details of the new arrangements; a few expressed the view that one week is too short an interval between the issue of a report to the appropriate institution and local authority or proprietor, and its publication. On the latter point I have drawn correspondents' attention to the discussions which HMI has with the heads and governors of schools and colleges about their findings prior to the issue of its written report.
