HC Deb 21 March 1983 vol 39 c349W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services in how many cobalt radiotherapy units, and in which hospitals, uranium dust has been found; and what was the country of origin of the defective units.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

Uranium dust has been found on one new cobalt radiotherapy machine at the Churchill hospital, Oxford. This machine and three others installed at the Western infirmary, Glasgow, Addenbrooke's hospital, Cambridge and the Royal hospital, Shrewsbury were manufactured by a British firm, TEM Instruments Limited, although the component on which the dust was found was supplied by a company in the United States.
