§ Mr. Hannamasked the Secretary of State for Energy when he will announce a new financial target and a performance aim for the electricity supply industry in England and Wales.
§ Mr. LawsonIn agreement with the industry, I have set the target of a return of 1.4 per cent. on average total net assets for the period 1 April 1983 to 31 March 1985. This is fully consistent with the standstill in prices overall in 1983–84 which I announced last November. I have also agreed with the industry a performance aim to reduce its controllable unit costs in real terms by 4.25 per cent. over the financial target period.
