§ Mr. StanleyResults from the physical survey report of the English House Condition Survey 1981—a copy of which is in the Library—indicate that 50,000 dwellings rented from English local authorities or new towns required repairs estimated to cost £7,000 or more. Records are not held centrally for the repair costs of other public buildings. Statistics for repair costs elsewhere in the United Kingdom are the responsibility of my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
