Mr. Jim Callaghanasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has given consideration to the recruitment, training and qualifications of sheltered housing wardens, with a view to making recommendations to local authorities on the matter.
§ Sir George YoungThe recruitment, training and qualifications of sheltered housing wardens employed by local authorities are matters for the individual authorities concerned. No central Government recommendations in this area are planned.
However, I understand that recommendations to local authorities on the training of sheltered housing wardens were made in a report sent to all authorities by the local government training board in 1980.
