§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that the design standards set for the nucleus design of hospital property reflect the reasonable needs of patients, staff, and voluntary community personnel.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeYes. However, nucleus like any standard design, will rarely meet exactly all the hospital provision required by a district health authority. Additions or modifications may have to be the basic plans to meet local needs to circumstances. The nucleus system is sufficiently robust and flexible to accommodate a variety of changes of that nature whilst still retaining its inherent characteristics of economy of both capital and revenue.
