What steps they are taking to encourage the provision of allotments for the elderly and the long-term unemployed.

The provision of allotments is a matter for the individual local authorities who are under a statutory duty, where they are of the opinion that there is a demand for allotments in their area, to provide a sufficient number and to let them to local residents.
