§ Mr. Peter WalkerI believe that an agricultural trade war between the European Community and the United States would benefit neither side. This is one of the reasons why I am pressing in the current common agricultural policy price discussions for greater restraint on common prices, particularly for products in surplus. It is also why I visited Washington on 9 and 10 March and held discussions with United States Government and Congressional leaders about the progress of talks between the United States and the Community on agricultural matters.
