§ Mr. McKelveyasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether, pursuant to the statement made on 1 February 1982, Official Report, c. 26, he still regards the nuclear building programme for the 1990s as likely to be much faster than in either the 1960s or the 1970s.
§ Mr. John MooreI cannot anticipate the level of power station construction in the 1990s which will depend on demand developments and the capacity of new stations to reduce costs. But the CEGB currently expects a large quantity of plant to reach the end of its life in that period.
§ Mr. McKelveyasked the Secretary of State for Energy how much expenditure has taken place on the civil nuclear programme since its inception.
§ Mr. John MooreI am advised by the CEGB that, up to 31 March 1982, its capital expenditure on nuclear power stations, including initial nuclear fuel, totalled £2,646 million. Figures for the current financial year are not yet available.
