HC Deb 11 March 1983 vol 38 c524W
Mr. Park

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will increase the resources available to the Coventry area health authority to avoid the closure of beds at Gulson, High View and Paybody hospitals.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

We have allocated to the West Midlands regional health authority £854 millions revenue for 1983–84. This represents an increase in cash terms of 5.6 per cent. over the 1982–83 level and will allow for a real growth in planned services. It is now for the regional health authority to determine allocations to Coventry and the other district health authorities. I understand that the RHA will be making its decisions on 16 March.
