What plans exist for a by-pass to reduce heavy lorry traffic through Cheltenham.
§ Lord Lucas of ChilworthProposals have been published to give trunk road status to the A.436 route between Shipton Solers and Birdlip, and additionally preparation is in hand for a by-pass of Brockworth on the A.417 road to the west. In the Government's view the provision of this by-pass, together with the improvement of the A.436, will be the best way of providing an alternative route for heavy goods vehicles and other traffic not wishing to stop in Cheltenham.
