HC Deb 10 March 1983 vol 38 c464W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what was the level of generally available regional aid received by the textile, clothing and footwear industries, respectively, in the United Kingdom in each of the past three years; and what percentage of total regional aid given in the same period this represents.

Mr. MacGregor

Regional financial assistance has been made available under the Industrial Development Act 1982 to the textile, clothing and footwear industries in Great Britain as follows:

Owen Jacob, with a view to cancelling his permission to remain in the country in view of the disturbance which he caused in Weltje Road, Hammersmith.

Mr. Waddington

It is not our normal practice to make public any consideration we may be giving to a particular case, but where evidence of abuse of the immigration laws comes to notice, the matter is thoroughly investigated and appropriate action taken.
