asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate the cost of increasing the Christmas bonus to £20.

The estimated cost would be £106 million.

assisting civil servants with private health payments will have on the diversion of skilled staff from the National Health Service to private care.

None at all. The Government are not assisting civil servants with payments. We have arranged for medical insurance companies to make their terms known to civil servants who may choose to take up a policy if they wish.
