HC Deb 09 March 1983 vol 38 c393W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will seek to amend the health and safety legislation in order to establish controlled levels of humidity at places of work.

Mr. Gummer

Except in those few special cases already subject to specific legal requirements, where the industrial process itself requires the maintenance of closely controlled humidity conditions, the general provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 are sufficient to require employers to maintain humidity levels at all places of work within healthy and safe limits. I therefore see no need for amending legislation.
