§ 30. Mr. Farrasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress he has made in conjunction with British firms and Falkland interests with plans to explore and develop oil mineral and fish resources in the sea around the Falkland Islands.
§ Mr. OnslowWe are keeping the questions of oil and mineral exploration under review. However, no company involved in oil or mineral extraction has yet shown interest in exploration in these areas.
Several British companies have expressed an interest in involvement with fishing in Falklands waters, although only one firm proposal has so far been put forward. This is at present being considered by the Falkland Islands Government.
