HC Deb 09 March 1983 vol 38 c411W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, in the interests of encouraging new co-operatives, particularly worker co-operatives, he will reduce to a nominal sum the registration fees payable.

Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

No. The fee is modest, especially if the co-operative uses one of the approved sets of model rules. In that case the fee is at present £105, to be increased to £115 on 1 April. I do not consider that there is sufficient ground for departing from the general principle that the registry should charge fees for its registration work at a level designed to recover the costs of that work.
