§ Mr. WaddingtonNo central records are maintained, either by the Home Office or the appellate authorities, of the number of applications made for bail or the number of applications in which bail is granted. The information could be obtained only at disproportionate cost by individual reference to all cases referred to the appellate authorities. However, it is our understanding that a large percentage of those applying are in fact granted bail.
