HC Deb 04 March 1983 vol 38 c247W
Mr. Booth

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in the Official Report the incidence of new cases of multiple myeloma in females in south west Cumbria for each year since 1969.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

Registrations of newly diagnosed cases of multiple myeloma for areas other then health regions are not routinely available and could be produced only at disproportionate cost. Figures for the health region which includes south-west Cumbria are given in the following table:

Registrations of newly diagnosed cases of multiple myeloma (ICD 203) Newcastle hospital region, 1969–73, and
Northern regional health authority, 1974–78: Females
Registration
Newcastle hospital region 1969 35
1970 46
1971 43
1972 45
1973 37
Northern regional health authority 1974 54
1975 51
1976 62
1977 60
1978 41

Figures for 1974 and later years include cases detected from death registrations alone.
