Prices for particular pieces of medical equipment vary according to the sophistication of the item. The following figures give a rough indication of the price range for the equipment in question:

  1. (a) Kings fund hospital bed: £180 to £300
  2. (b) an operating table: £3,100 to £11,500
  3. (c) a renal dialysis machine: £4,500 to £5,500
  4. (d) a full body scanner: £450,000 to £650,000
