§ Q19. Mr. Kenneth Carlisleasked the Prime Minister if she will make a statement on the current trend in inflation.
§ The Prime MinisterI refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave him on 1 March 1983.—[Vol. 38, c. 85.]
§ Q60. Mr. Alexander W. Lyonasked the Prime Minister when the rate of inflation is likely to rise again.
§ The Prime MinisterThe rate of inflation may fluctuate from month to month. We cannot expect to maintain the rapid progress of the past year which has brought inflation below 5 per cent. for the first time in 13 years. But the maintenance of our policies will mean that there is no resurgence of inflation.
