§ Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate for 1981 and 1982 the number of births to mothers of New Commonwealth and Pakistani ethnic origin, excluding those of mixed descent, who themselves were born in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergThe latest estimate of the number of births of New Commonwealth or Pakistani ethnic origin occurring in Great Britain is 60,000 for the year ending mid-1981. This includes births of mixed origin, but excludes births to parents both of whom were232W United Kingdom-born. This estimate has been compiled on the same basis as figures for earlier years published in OPCS monitor PP1 81/6 on 1 December 1981. These estimates may be revised in the light of the results from the 1981 Census and from the 1981 labour force survey.
