§ Mr. HurdWe maintain close relations with this important Commonwealth country. Since independence Bangladesh has received over £200 million in bilateral aid from the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Dubsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what was the purpose of the visit to Bangladesh of Sir David McNee in January 1980; and what other advice has been given to the police and security services in Bangladesh.
§ Mr. HurdSir David McNee visited Bangladesh at the invitation of the Inspector General of Police there and discussed with the Bangladesh authorities ways in which the effectiveness of their police service might be improved, particularly through training and education. The overseas police adviser of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office visited Bangladesh in December 1981 and also discussed police training.
