§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Attorney-General if he will give, for the last year for which figures are available, the numbers in (a) England and Wales and (b) Northern Ireland of (i) writs issued claiming damage for industrial deafness, (ii) cases set down for trial, (iii) cases settled out of court, (iv) cases settled by the court and (v) cases in which an award was made by the court; and if he will express the figures given in (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) as a percentage of the figure in (i).
