HC Deb 29 July 1983 vol 46 c669W
Mr. Ashdown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many cases of non-compliance or difficulties in administering the statutory sick pay scheme have been registered by his Department since the scheme's inception; and how many of these cases were from small businesses.

Dr. Boyson

Up to 7 June checks made of employers by the Department's statutory sick pay visiting officers showed 4,000 cases where the rules had not been correctly applied. Of those cases 900 were in businesses employing fewer than six people.
