HC Deb 29 July 1983 vol 46 cc736-7W
Mr. Macmillan

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will make a statement on the progress being made to establish a management information system for his Department.

Mr. Parkinson

[pursuant to the reply, 18 July 1983, c. 9]: Excellent progress is being made to establish a management information system in my Department.

It is intended to introduce three computer based systems covering the financial, human, and physical resources contributed by the Department. Other systems, including summarised information for departmental management purposes, are being developed and will be introduced later.

A fuller account of the Department's plans which form part of its response to the financial management initiative, will be contained in a White Paper to be published shortly.
