HC Deb 29 July 1983 vol 46 c720W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will institute an inquiry into the effects of the medium-term financial strategy on each region of the United Kingdom.

Mr Lawson

Many factors affect the circumstances of different regions, and it would not be practicable to try to isolate the effects of any one of them. The medium-term financial strategy provides the essential framework for securing a lasting improvement in our economic performance to the benefit of the United Kingdom as a whole.
