Mr. Andrew Bowden

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he consulted any individuals or bodies before deciding to lease a number of berths in Chatham dockyard earlier in the current year to the Medway port authority.

Prior to reaching agreement on heads of terms for a lease on number 3 basin (which affords several berths) and adjacent land at Chatham dockyard to a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Medway port authority, the Department of Trade and Industry and the local authorities were consulted.
