HC Deb 29 July 1983 vol 46 c649W
Mr. Amess

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many youth training places have been allocated in the current year to youngsters in Basildon for September; and how many places have been filled.

Mr. Peter Morrison

About 1,400 places will be needed on the youth training scheme during the first year of its operation to cater for the young people in Basildon. Almost all of these places have already been identified. The number of entrants to the scheme to date has been small. Large numbers of young people are however expected to join the scheme in late summer when unemployed school and college leavers will be seeking places.
